A lot of English language teachers have considered teaching English abroad yet there are a lot of myths that hover on the issue of being employed abroad. There are so many preconceived ideas regarding teaching English in other countries and some of them are posted below.

Myth: Having possession of a TEFL certificate allows anybody to teach English.

Fact: A TEFL certification is just an introduction to teaching the English language. If you don’t have previous knowledge or experience regarding teaching or if you don’t have the natural skills of a teacher, you will surely have a hard time teaching English not only in your locality but most of all, abroad! In order to become a really great teacher, experience is needed that is why if you plan to teach English abroad, you should garner enough experience in order to become an efficient teacher.

Myth: Teaching English abroad is easy, you just need to know how to speak English!

Fact: This is not true since there are various requirements in order to become a qualified and certified English language teacher. It involves hard work, knowledge, and a lot of skill!

Myth: Teaching English aboard is glamorous since it allows you to travel to any place you want!

Fact: Teaching English abroad could be tiring due to full schedules. Most teachers that teach English in other countries are really made busy due to the demands of language learners. You will find it hard to find time to enjoy traveling unless it is part of your job to go to different places for excursions!

Myth: You will get rich if you will teach English abroad!

Fact: Not all positions for teaching English abroad offer high salaries. In fact there are only a few countries that offer high salaries. However, most teachers can live a comfortable lifestyle in some countries especially in places where the cost of living is low. Unless you become an English tutor to a very rich family, you might consider the reality that you will not get rich instantly! Just be mindful of the fact that the joy in teaching does not lie in monetary compensation alone.

Myth: Teaching English abroad is a wonderful way to learn about new cultures.

Fact: This is true that teaching abroad can help open doors to learning new things about countries especially about their cultures but then not all teachers go abroad for cultural exposure. Most teachers still mingle with fellow foreigners and miss out a lot on what they could learn about the country.

Those mentioned above are just few of the many myths about teaching English abroad. Do you have some myths you can share with us? If you have some, don’t hesitate to post comments!

Since English is one of the most spoken languages in the world today, the number of people who are learning English has increased and there is a serious demand for English language teachers.

So, you are a native English language speaker and you would want to teach English abroad. Do you know what is required of you to be able to teach English to non-native speakers? You need to be qualified and certified in order to be able to teach English to other people without difficulty. Being a native English speaker is already a plus but being certified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language or TEFL will boost your career more!

There are many available teacher training courses in various English language schools abroad that you might want to check out. Receiving a TEFL certificate from an English language school in a place where English is the major language or the population is very desirable since you will have the opportunity to learn the best ways on how to teach English and be immersed in an English environment.

Most short teacher training courses allow you to know how to teach English, teach you what you should teach, and most of all allow you to spend time with real students in a classroom! The teacher training experience will be something you will look forward to since it is your stepping stone and on the job training for that coveted English teaching job! You will be able to learn the basic teaching skills, methodology, and language analysis.

If you are not a native English speaker but would want to teach English abroad, you can also avail of a teacher training course yet you would need to work harder on knowing more of and about English so that you wouldn’t have difficulty teaching the language to non-native speakers too.

Teacher training courses usually require university graduates to teach abroad for a year to see if they like the teaching profession but for TEFL courses, some of the entrance requirements are a good level of linguistic ability and just the usual tuition fees.

Once you have equipped yourself with the necessary certification, qualifications, and courage to go and teach English abroad, you can search for teaching jobs online and be among the propagators of the English language.

<img src="http://i74.servimg.com/u/f74/11/74/66/71/teach_10.jpg" alt="Teach English Abroad" title="Teach English Abroad" / style="float:left;margin:3px"/>If you can speak English fluently many opportunities are open for you abroad. It doesn’t really matter whether you have a teacher’s degree or a certificate in the English language proficiency. You can teach English abroad in International schools where American curriculum is always offered. It includes high schools, middle schools and elementary. Most of the students are expatriate children whose families reside in another country.

The good thing about International schools is that the language used in the instruction is commonly English, and many of the students have become familiar with English as their second language. Teachers in international schools assist students by thoroughly teaching them the English language. The qualifications required to be able to teach English in International schools abroad are similar to that in private schools, the only difference are the teaching diplomas they may have over you.

There are over 4000 International schools in the world and a significant number of positions are vacant each year. Moreover, teaching in International schools pays better with more added benefits compared to private schools. The usual benefits include yearly flights, lodging allowance, medical insurance, and as far as a free tuition for your children. And like typical schools, International schools follow the normal school year so teaching means an average of 200 days, and rest assured your vacation time will be paid.

On the other hand, teaching in private language schools is easier to obtain than International schools. The English language is a growing business in many parts of the world particularly Asia and Eastern Europe. Those who are taking part in the development of its practice acquire a good career ahead. To be able to teach English in private school institutions, they stipulate you are effective in its application both verbal and written, with certain requirements. The courses last around four weeks; also it can be completed online. Some language schools prefer native English speakers who do not need ESL qualification, but others may choose otherwise. Some native speakers tend to be harder to understand for many English language bloomers because of their complex intonation which they cannot follow easily.

Many of the teachers who have ESL qualifications are from countries whose mother tongue is not English, and they can understand better the gradual process of learning and empathize. Thus, apply teaching in accordance to the degree of which students can assimilate. But in real life many teachers who speak the native tongue can teach English better or just as better, it’s all a matter of how well the subject is instruction during the teaching process.

It is the language of communication that ensures you confidence in exchange no matter where you are. Knowing how to speak and understand the English language will take you a long way. In any state of affairs, whether it be for communication, business, trade, commerce, media, diplomacy, etc. the English language is the trendiest medium of communication being used. It is generally necessary in dealing with and handling matters out in the real world. Rightly you can get by everyday life with just the use of your non-English native tongue, but eventually you will inevitably be finding yourself in a situation where the ability to know English is compulsory. Having good English language ability can be traced back to a solid early foundation. One should be exposed to the English language at an early age and be taught in it. The use of English extends to music, literature and the media. It is most popular with the young people when it comes to music, who are normally captivated by English songs and music as it is apparently easier to understand and comprehend. The demand for English learning has grown steadily over the years and many of these translations belong to literature. But just the same you can find many translations in the technical and economic areas. In the domain of International affairs many of the important legislations in the United Nations, European Union and NATO are authentically written in English so it will be explicable to the public. The English manner of usage is plainly uncomplicated and painless to practice. Simultaneously, it is considered an expressive and responsive language that always manages to communicate feelings and thoughts effortlessly.

Communication has always been vital in meeting global challenges especially in the exigencies of today, both in business and personal concerns. The English language serves as an essential force in bridging gaps and barriers of communication. If English has not become a universal medium, seemingly International relations and regular affairs that relates globally would become a matter very hard to deal with. English is the frontline channel that dominates thousands of business transactions occurring any day worldwide. In short, it makes universal matters and affairs possible.

<img src="http://i44.servimg.com/u/f44/11/74/66/71/englis12.jpg" alt="The Essence of the English Language" title="The Essence of the English Language" / style="float:left;margin:3px"/>The use of English language reaches farther beyond its root origin. It is so because it is meant to interact with people. It connects and reaches people into understanding regardless of race and culture. Because it is widely spoken it is universally accepted. English is global. Wherever you are in the world if you can speak the English language well you’ll be fine. You can move about and coordinate. Also, the knowledge of English cultivates you. You are civilized to mingle socially and communicate freely. It is the dominating medium of communication in all aspects of life’s engagements. The ability to speak and understand English is compulsory in most areas involving occupation, profession, position and location! Wherever you are and whatever you do, if you can speak and understand the language it won’t be difficult for you to harmonize with science, communication, entertainment, aviation, etc. There are many advantages the knowledge and fluency of English can bring. Commonly, it is essential for a good job. Once you are really underway it can even take you to places. Moreover, if you can speak the language better you will be confident to face the world because you know you will not get lost with a smart mind and a good tongue. However, what puts you behind is when in an instance you find yourself rivaled with people who don’t only speak the English language, but can speak other languages too. Now what chances are there for you to get the edge? Scarcely. But nowadays as long as you know your way around its usage you’ll be alright.

Learning English does not have to be done deliberately. Your brain always put into storage what you have gathered from reading or listening. You will learn to speak the language based on how you heard it used. Right use of its sentences will come naturally. If you read a lot you will be aided in comprehension. If you rather like to listen you will be guided on the use of its pronunciation. Everything starts from the basics. Eventually you are expressing the language smoothly. You will begin to filter out what sounds better and what sounds incorrect, unknowingly you are already beginning to understand the proper ways to use it. But the fact remains, proper education is still the best way to help you learn any subject thoroughly.

Nowadays, English teachers are highly in demand here in Europe. From the European countries, English are taught compulsory for the student’s privilege to learn the language. English is a widely used language to communicate foreign citizens. Mostly, people in Spain are really eager to learn English language because of the vast opportunity it gives them when you know how to speak it. English on the other hand is a global language no reason why there are many people who wanted to learn it. Aside from the European countries, several Asian as well are eager to learn English language to compete to other foreign people, though it’s quite hard for them but still they have interest in doing so. Particularly the Korean citizens who have strong interest in learning English, because most of them love to invest business in foreign country like in the Philippines. You can see different foreigner investing their small businesses in many countries like the latter; most Filipinos accurately speak English language since their universities teach English language as compulsory since they were young. While Korean, Chinese and Turkish, these tree kinds of people who are usually seen in the Philippine are willing to learn English in order to communicate well using the English language.

Africa on the other hand, most of the people here don’t know much how to speak the English language, since their country cannot afford to hire English teachers, however despite the fact that they cannot afford to look for English teachers, there are still volunteers who help them and teach them some basic of the English language. Recently, African communities already know a little bit of the English language which they often used when talking to some foreign visitors. Indeed, some of them are being sent in United Kingdom to study the language as well as to be exposed to the country’s culture and way of living. After a couple of years by studying English some of them go back in Africa to educate their countrymen and to share what they had learned in foreign country. Mostly several indigent places in Africa have no chance to learn because their place is difficult to travel.

If you have a chance to learn English abroad don’t hesitate to accept the opportunity since it is not always given to you, opportunity knocks once only. It is a great deal learning English abroad for the reason that there are a lot of professional professors who can educate you well on how to speak English. As you’ve heard that English is the only language that the world use to understand each of the humanity. We cannot easily travel abroad without knowing the English language, if you do not know well how to use or speak English there will be possibilities that you will lost in that certain foreign country. Though there are places which is do not all knew well the English language, but still there are some who can understand you and will surely help you regarding what you were asking them. Therefore, English as a universal language is indeed necessary for us to learn.

Furthermore, once you’ve contacted English, why not try another language? A road trip around Andalucia (say using an option such as Malaga car hire), you’ll give yourself plenty of opportunity to learn both the culture and the language! Or seeing the fantastic city of Paris may inspire you to learn French! The world really is your oyster!

<img src="http://i27.servimg.com/u/f27/11/74/66/71/teach_10.jpg" alt="Teaching English through Music" title="Teaching English through Music" / style="float:left;margin:3px"/>THERE are lots of opportunities for teaching English today. Here in Spain alone, the European Union has instituted the mandatory teaching of a second European language because of the peculiar fact that despite the smallness of Europe, it has lots of countries each with its own distinct tongue. That’s why people in Spain and not just the ones working in the hospitality sector are craving to learn English. They perceive that with English as the generally-used international language of communication, they can become competitive. Of course, Chinese is still the most spoken language in the world but think of it this way – imagine an Israeli in France who doesn’t know how to speak English. How can he communicate with the French when the French doesn’t know Hebrew in the first place? Although mainly trivial, that’s really a dilemma I tell you.

So here in Spain particularly in Salamanca, it’s not just German that is famous here, it’s also English. There’s no problem with places like Ibiza where English is the common second tongue. Of course, Ibiza is the headquarters of some of the most reputable DJs in the world such as DJ Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk and Godskitchen.. They are DJs but of course, Billboard number one hits can also be utilized as a teaching look in English language acquisition.

Not only will you help students learn English faster, you will also help them be immersed with American culture so to speak. Of course, Spain has long been immersed with house, trance and electronica already that you need not expose them to that anymore. Aside from house, there are other pop culture music genres that are pervading in the United States. So introduce your students to the world of Flo Rida and T-Pain perhaps. At the same time, you may want to lecture them some background about the United States. After all, there are some Spaniards who still want to go to the United States to pursue that so-called American dream. Some have been fairly successful like Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz. Banderas has even married a Hollywood actress, Melanie Griffith, and established a chain of restaurants all over Spain serving nothing but healthy Mediterranean diet.

Earlier, I was talking about rap star Flo Rida. You may want to teach the students that his name is double entendre. Flo Rida derives from Florida, the Sunshine State bordering the Carribean where many Cuban-Americans exist. It is also the twang for free-flowing rider. In short, Flo Rida is insinuating that his rap music simply flows from his soul. And that’s why his hit Low is currently dominating the Billboard charts nowadays.

You may want to tell your English students too that the next number one hit currently dominating the Billboard charts is No One by Alicia Keys. Alicia Keys’s If I Ain’t Got You is one karaoke hot track all over the world, including here in Spain of course. These are just a few of the examples on how not to make an English language acquisition class boring.
