THERE are many reasons why studying abroad is cool. One is you can have the chance to immerse yourself with the culture of the place. Although we contemporary humans belong only to one species, we are divided into several races. There are Caucasians, there are the cute-eyed ones, the black ones, the brown ones, etc. And when countries are divided by oceans, naturally the way of life in that country is obviously different from ours. Then the Babel thing comes to perspective. Once you’re studying in a foreign country, you will slowly learn speaking the language of the place. Heck, you’ll even speak the accent of the locals so as if you’ve got the same skin color, you’ll be mistaken as one of them. A more challenging learning to do once you’re in a foreign country is learn the alphabet of the people there like for instance the Chinese alphabet.
Learning the native language of the place if you’re studying abroad can also greatly help you to go around. If you want to ask for directions or if you’re lost, it can be of most help especially in countries where English is not even the third language.
Studying abroad if you’re still young also has a positive effect in your adult life. If you have experienced studying abroad and by the time you grow old and you occupy sensitive bureaucratic positions, you will be diplomatic. If only most of our government officials and outsourced consultants have studied abroad, they would never easily go to war. Why? Simply because these people would have already tolerated other cultures. Sadly enough, only a few people in this country understand this. That’s why studying abroad is greatly encouraged.
Moving to some lighter topics, studying abroad is also an opportunity to travel. If you study to such places as Spain and the Philippines, there are lots of exotic sights to see. You will really immerse with not just the people but the place itself. Enjoy your four-year study stint abroad while you can. When there’s not much homework or studying to do, embark on whitewater rafting, scuba diving or gliding.
Studying abroad will also give you the chance to experience a totally different curriculum. A college curriculum in the UK for example is not similar to the ones we have here. Studying abroad is also very impressive to include in your resume. There is greater chance that a would-be employer will hire you on the spot. It certainly is an advantage because employers are looking for people who are diplomatic and more open-minded. People who already have study stints abroad are likewise perceived to be more mature and responsible.
Studying abroad is also a memory that can be cherished for a lifetime. This is the opportunity to gain lots of friends from other races. Once you’ve gained lots of classmates as friends, I’m pretty sure you will enjoy being with them in your hangouts, in your gimmicks, in your parties, even in helping out each other’s home works.
